• Top 5 Travel Essentials

Who doesn’t enjoy traveling? I would love to pick up my stuff and leave for three months, but that isn’t very doable at the moment. However, I do get to travel for my job. It isn’t anywhere super exciting or far away, but it is somewhere I have never been before, and that is Wisconsin.

Every single time I travel I always try to pack very light. I try to combine different outfits instead of packing more pieces. I figure the less pieces the better. It’s just as easy as mixing and matching. I wanted to share with you some of my top travel essentials, not just about fashion, but other items that I always have to have when I go somewhere.

    1. My own towels: I know this can sound very weird because hotels already provide towels. However, I do have an explanation for this. Recently, I got a weird rash and went to the doctor. She couldn’t really figure out what might have happened to me. Since then, she suggested I take my own towels when I travel to be safe. I would rather be safe than sorry!
    2. iPad/Laptop: This is a must for me because I want to be productive during my connection flights because I usually have a couple of hours to just sit in the airport. For this trip, I used my iPad a lot because I have the Kindle App that contains all my books that I need to read for class. I was able to highlight and take notes right then and there. I also blog when I am traveling so it is very convenient to bring my devices. The only side effect is having to take them out at security check-in.
    3. Skincare products/toiletries: I always have to carry my own skincare products because without those I either start getting dry or start using new ones that mess with my skin. Toiletries are also a must because I don’t like using the hotel’s. One of the tips I suggest is using reusable plastic bottles to fill them up with your everyday shampoo and body wash. This way, you save on purchasing new ones each time you travel.
    4. Leggings are a girl’s best friend: Anywhere I go I always take leggings because they are very easy to style and reuse throughout your travels. The only thing you have to worry about would be the top but if you have a cardigan or a sweater then it makes the outfit very easy to put together.
    5. Slippers/sandals: I can never travel anywhere with at least some type of comfortable footwear for when I get out of the shower. I just imagine how many people have walked in the hotel and could never walk barefoot. My mom would never let me, because she used to be a housekeeper and knew what things weren’t washed daily. So this is why I always take something to lounge around in while I’m in my hotel room.

These are only some of the many things I always have to pack when I travel. Please feel free to comment down below some of your top essentials for traveling.

  • My Forever Valentine

    1. When/where did we meet?
We met in the summer of 2008. We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. It’s actually a funny story the way he started talking to me. I will have to do another post on that because that is a whole other story.
    2. When did you meet my parents?
Alonso met my parents around the same time I met him. I didn’t meet his parents until we started to go out again a couple years after that.
    3. Where/when was our first kiss?
It was in December of 2008 we were not official boyfriend and girlfriend just dating. It was at the old Casino West that used to be in what you would consider “downtown” of Yerington.
    4. Who said “I love you” first?
Alonso did. However, side note, I have only ever said I love you to one person and that was him, but way later on down the road.
    5. Where was our first date?
Watching a movie at Casino West, this is pretty much what everyone in Yerington ever did for a “date.”
    6. Which is our most favorite drink/ food?
Alonso and I love food! We love to cook. Our favorite foods include steak, sushi, chiles rellenos, and burgers. We love to drink Coke (I don’t, he makes me because he thinks its gross to drink food with water).
    7. When do you plan on getting married?
We think there is always a time and place for it. There is currently no rush for marriage. We are just going day by day and I am currently going to school again so we both are pretty busy to even think about this at times.
    8. What does your favorite date night consist of?
As of lately, there have been very few date nights because I started school again. However, when we get the chance we go out and have a nice meal and just talk about our day and how it went. We come home, snuggle, and watch our favorite Netflix shows (Shameless and Blacklist, and Stranger Things).
    9. How long have you been together?
Alonso and I met in 2008, started dating in 2009, and broke up in 2010 (we both were babies). We still hung around and saw each other but didn’t make it official again until 2013, and we have been together ever since :).
    10. What makes you feel most loved?
Alonso: with actions and a back rub
Patty: words, I love to feel loved with simple heart felt words

This was in 2009 at my 15th birthday party. Alonso and I were dating, but we didn’t tell anyone until I was officially 15 or else I would have been in deep trouble :).
    11. Do you want kids?
Yes! We both want to have kids, but we feel there is no rush and when the time is right we will be very happy. Meanwhile, we love on my nieces and Alonso’s nephew and little sister. That’s enough for us for right now. 🙂
    12. Craziest thing you guys have done?
We went skydiving and I would never do that for anyone else again (I started getting scared after the fact not before) :). It was so much fun though!
    13. What do you love about each other?
Alonso: my niceness, my funny personality, my determination and hard working characteristics
Patty: I love how Alonso is very relaxed and calm about anything and everything. I admire him because I have trouble being like that. He gets along with my family and I love that about him. He has been so supportive with everything I have ever wanted to do. If I come home late there’s food and a clean home. I wouldn’t have been able to do everything by myself and I thank him for that! As you can tell I am the one that is better with words :).

    14. Who cooks better?
This questions deserves a match because I think it’s me, but Alonso thinks it’s him. I must say he cooks really well and I love that he doesn’t think that women are the ones that always have to be in the kitchen. We both always cook together unless I have homework or class then he will cook for me… he’s the best!

So that sums it up! I hope everyone has a wonderful night full of love, but I also hope you feel loved every day not just today. I am currently in Wisconsin for work and wish I could be home, but I am just thankful that every day I get to spend it with my forever valentine.

  • Ulta Haul Review

I must first admit, I am a true lover of beauty related YouTube videos. I am constantly learning so much about what new products are out there, which ones are affordable, which ones are “must haves”, etc. This can be a bad thing because like my friends and I have realized, we are constantly wanting to purchase more products. However, I have always tried to keep my makeup collection to a minimum as to not waste any and because although I might love watching makeup videos, I normally wear very minimal makeup. I thought I would go ahead and add an in depth review of the products I recently purchased from my Ulta haul on my blog. I also created a YouTube video on my channel here, if you want to head over there and check a quicker review of the products.

I want to start incorporating a little bit of everything here and share a couple more beauty related posts of reviews of products I love and are affordable. It can be hard finding products that are around your budget and minimalistic. Some of these products I hold true to my heart and would continue repurchasing them, while others I wanted to test out and see if they could have potential of becoming a “must have.”

I must note that makeup was never my thing and I never (maybe once or twice) wore makeup in high school or middle school. I started to learn more about it my first year of college. Till this day, I am still learning how to apply it, it’s a work in progress. However, I do think it is fun to mix it up and play around with the different types of products. So enough rambling and let’s get started with the review.

    1. Kirkland Signature Daily Facial Towelettes
These towelettes are not from Ulta but I did purchase them the same day and thought I would share with you since it is beauty related. I have never really been a fan of makeup removing wipes because I always felt like the makeup never came off and you always needed a cleanser every time. This is the second time I picked up these wipes from Costco and I think these became a “must have” product for me. These wipes are very gentle on the skin and they will not irritate your eyes. I use both sides of the towelette and find that it takes off all my makeup, especially my eyelashes from the mascara. If you have a Costco card I would suggest checking these out, you get a lot more for the price.
    2. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
I am currently going through a new skincare routine and have just ran out of a cleanser. The skincare routine I am using is a three step process and I will be creating a blog post or a video on it because it has really worked for me. Anyways, I did some research and wanted to look for a cleanser that was similar to the cleanser from the three step process. This one ended up being the winner and I love it. This is my first time using it and I love how soft and gentle it feels on the skin. I need to keep using it and see if it hydrates some dry patches I have on my face. My skin type is oily, but I do sometimes have dry patches from constantly touching my face and rubbing it.
    3. L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara
Out of all of the mascaras I have tried, I do have to say that this one is my favorite of all time. One of the main reasons I love it is because it does not leave residue or flakes on my under eye. I also do love how thin the wand is making it easy to apply to the lower lash. This mascara does make my eyelashes look longer and not clumpy (who doesn’t love that!?), and it is very affordable.
    4. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer
I have already mentioned this concealer in one of my December Favorites from last year. It is still one of my favorite concealers. However, recently I haven’t been wearing any concealer and I have been loving the way my makeup comes out. This concealer is creamy and it does cover your under eyes if you have dark circles.
    5. Maybelline FaceStudio Master Prime Blur + Smooth Primer
I have tried many primers but I haven’t seem to find any that I truly like. Please let me know in the comments below primers you recommend for oily skin. I have tried this primer twice now and I like it. I decided to pick it up again because I like the way it makes my skin feel smooth before applying foundation, however I don’t think it really blurs my imperfections.
    6. L’Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation
This was my first time trying this product and I have mixed feelings about it. The texture is very different when it comes out of the tube. It feels like a mousse but once you apply it to the skin it is lightweight. I don’t feel like it necessarily covered up my imperfections. I felt like a regular lightweight foundation. I only tried it once so perhaps after trying it a couple more times I will get used to it.
    7. Maybelline Color Sensational The Loaded Bolds Lip Color – Mauve It
I love this color and this lipstick! I tried it on yesterday and I feel in love with it. It glides on to the lips really easy. I used a lip balm before applying it and let it dry. It is a demi-matte finish meaning it doesn’t dry out your skin and it doesn’t come off quick like a lipgloss. The color is a mauvy color and it goes with anything!
    8. NYX Cosmetics BB Cream
The reason I decided to pick this product up is because I want to try a BB cream for an everyday makeup look and leave my foundations for special occasions. This BB cream is lightweight and it doesn’t cover a lot but that’s what I like. It is one of those products that you want to use when you are running late or don’t want to wear that much makeup.
    9. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge Set
This is the only beauty blender I use and I love how affordable it is if you buy two instead of one. I know some retail for around $20 for just one, so this is a good deal. It applies my foundation very smoothly and doesn’t leave streaks. It is also really good for concealer under the eye. My old one was very dirty and when it’s dirty and cracked it starts losing its purpose so it was time for a new one.

I am so sorry this post was long, but I wanted to make sure I went through each product in detail. I hope you enjoy and please check out my YouTube channel for the Ulta Haul, here.

  • A Pop of Color

Sweater   //  Jeans  //  Crossbody bag  //  Booties

    Hello,

If there is one thing that is hard to pull off it’s colored shoes. We always tend to gravitate towards the black and the white but it so fun to add a little twist to your wardrobe. I love booties and I love the wine/burgundy colors so when I came across these booties I knew I had to have them. Amiclubwear has super affordable shoes the only thing that is costly (is their shipping). The easiest way to pull off a pop of color is to keep everything else neutral. I went ahead and paired these booties with a sweater and some ripped jeans, and love how it turned out. My boyfriend was super skeptical about my shoes and thought they wouldn’t look good… aha! but after I put together the outfit he loved them.

Valentine’s day is approaching, I’m working on putting together a blog post/video for you guys. Make sure to follow my social media (check the sidebar) for more updates!

    xoxo,

    Patty G.

  • Baby it’s cold outside

Sweater  //  Scarf  //  Ponte Pants  //  OTK Boots  // Purse (Nine West)

Welcome Back to a Fashion Post 🙂

I should have created this look awhile back when my exact sweater and scarf were still available.. this is what happens when you wait. I tried to find similar items for you guys. Also, perhaps don’t purchase my OTK (over the  knee) boots just yet, because they are a tad bit overpriced. I always shop at Target when they have their sales. So just check they’re site when they have discounts, I’m sure they will (they always do.. it’s Target) :).

Be on the lookout for some Valentine’s day posts coming soon. I can’t believe January came and is so close to leaving :(.

    xoxo,

    Patty G.
